Conference: “Sa Sartiglia and the rain incantation”
Disclosures regarding Nicola Marongiu’s artistic project
Speakers:
- Dott. Salvatore Dedola
- Dott.ssa Maria Laura Fois
Nicola Marongiu and Alfonso Canfora, during the conference “Sa Sartiglia e l’incantesimo della pioggia” (“Sa Sartiglia and the rain incantation”) held in Oristano on 13 March 2015, have thanked the linguist Salvatore Dedola since they have been inspired by his precious etymological researches. On that occasion, Mr Dedola received as a gift “ETIMO”, a special work dedicated to him.
As Mr Dedola points out, “the Greek adjective étymos means true; the etymos is the primitive word, documented or reconstructed, which can be traced by backtracking the history of a word. We must therefore backtrack the entire history of a word, going through with it, in order to get a solid etymos which will be worthy of being called origin“.
